All skin is composed of Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid. Collagen is the structural framework of the skin, giving it strength and resiliency. Hyaluronic Acid is woven in between collagen fibers — it binds water giving skin a plump, hydrated, smooth youthful appearance.
As we age, the skin’s ability to produce Hyaluronic Acid unfortunately decreases. Its production starts to decline in our 20s and the decline accelerates in our 40s. As a result, skin becomes less pliable, losing its plump, dewy appearance.
