Some basics: Antioxidants help fight the damage free radicals or unstable molecules cause to our body. Free radicals can occur from exposure to external factors such as ultraviolet rays, air pollution, cigarette smoke or poor eating habits. An excessive amount of free radicals leads to premature aging and chronic disease. You can reduce damage caused by free radicals by minimizing your exposure and increasing your intake of antioxidants.
