How is a Facelift performed?
Prior to surgery, all of our facial aesthetic surgery patients will meet with one of our licensed medical aestheticians to prepare the skin for surgery. Patients will then be seen on a regular basis postoperatively for skin care treatments. Patients will also be provided with a full line of medical-grade skin care products and a tailored skin care regimen to help maximize the results.
A highly skilled and trusted facelift surgeon, Dr. Maffi performs facelift surgery in his fully accredited outpatient surgical center under light general anesthesia which is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist specializing in plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Maffi begins the surgery by creating inconspicuous incisions inside the hairline and around the curvature of the ear. He then uses a range of advanced techniques to remove unwanted fat and tighten and reshape the underlying facial muscles and structures. The facial skin is recontoured to deliver a dramatic improvement. Specific surgical techniques are determined prior to surgery, depending on each patient’s skin condition, facial anatomy and severity of aging. Who is a good candidate for a Facelift surgery?
The best candidates for facelift surgery are men and women whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined. Prospective facelift patients must also be in good general health. Most plastic surgery patients undergo facelift surgery in their 50s and 60s; however, it is not unusual for healthy individuals in their 70s and 80s to attain outstanding results. What is the recovery time for a Facelift?
Facelift surgery recovery greatly varies from one patient to another depending on the type of facelift performed and the surgical technique used. In general, immediately following facelift surgery, most patients experience numbness, swelling and bruising.
Patients are provided with a complete vitamin and supplement program to encourage improved healing and optimal results. Most facelift surgery patients are able to return to work and daily activities within 3-4 weeks and fully recover within 6-8 weeks. Private casitas are available at the surgical facility where patients may choose to recover. All patients are carefully monitored by Dr. Maffi and his staff during recovery. Although strenuous activity is not recommended, a daily walk and light movement will help with proper blood circulation and healing. Dr. Maffi and his staff always provide with specific aftercare instructions to ensure that you experience a safe and smooth facelift surgery recovery. How is Rhinoplasty performed?
Before surgery, all our facial plastic surgery patients will meet with one of our licensed medical skin care specialists to prepare the skin for surgery, and will be seen on a regular basis postoperatively. Patients will also be provided with a full line of medical-grade skin care products to help maximize the results.
Rhinoplasty surgery is a very intricate procedure and requires the skills of a well-trained facial surgeon who is adept at various surgical techniques. Dr. Maffi, who has received plastic surgery training from the renowned Mayo Clinic, is a highly qualified rhinoplasty surgeon. He performs the procedure under light general anesthesia, typically at his fully accredited outpatient surgery center. Anesthesia is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist who specializes in plastic surgery procedures.
Although many techniques exist, nose surgery is generally performed via the closed or open surgical approach. Closed rhinoplasty is used to make subtle cosmetic changes to the nose using special surgical tools and small incisions on the inside of the nose. Open rhinoplasty, on the other hand, involves small incisions just under the nostrils, which allow Dr. Maffi to manipulate the underlying nasal structures for more in-depth reshaping. Open rhinoplasty is the preferred technique as it enables Dr. Maffi to perform the surgery with maximum accuracy. Who is a good candidate for Rhinoplasty surgery?
The best rhinoplasty candidates fall into one of two categories: individuals who are in good general health and are unhappy with the appearance of their nose. Realistic expectations of what this procedure can accomplish are extremely important and will be discussed in great detail prior to surgery. Dr. Maffi does not perform nose surgery on teenagers until they are fully developed (around the age of 15 for girls and 17 for boys). Call 480.505.6430 today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Maffi.
What’s the recovery time for Rhinoplasty?
Immediately after rhinoplasty surgery, patients will wake up with a splint and some packing in their nose, which are removed within 5-7 days after surgery. During the first few days, some bruising, swelling and soreness is common and any discomfort is treated with pain medication.
Patients are provided with a complete vitamin and supplement program to encourage healing and optimal results. Private casitas are available at the surgical facility in which patients may choose to recover. Most patients are able to return to work and other activities within 7-10 days. Within 4-6 weeks, most of the swelling and bruising will have subsided, and over the next 12-18 months the shape of the nose will continue to improve. To ensure maximum comfort and success, all nose surgery patients are provided with detailed aftercare instructions and are regularly monitored by Dr. Maffi. How is Eyelid Lift surgery performed?
Before the procedure, you will meet with one of our licensed medical skin care specialists to prepare the skin for surgery, and will be seen on a regular basis postoperatively. You will also be provided with a full line of medical- grade skin care products to help maximize the results.
Blepharoplasty is typically performed at our fully accredited outpatient surgery center; light anesthesia is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist who specializes in plastic surgery procedures. Upper blepharoplasty begins with the creation of a small incision along the natural fold of the upper eyelids, Dr. Maffi then removes the excess fat and muscle, as well as the redundant skin between the eyelash and the eyebrow, making the upper eyelids look tighter and more refined.
Lower eyelid surgery is generally performed using one of two surgical approaches, depending on the desired results. If the lower lid appearance can be improved by removing fat tissue only, the procedure requires a small incision on the inside of the lower lid. If, however, excess skin is involved, Dr. Maffi will make the incision on the outside of the lower lid just below the lashes. In either case, the postoperative scarring is minimal and well-hidden within the natural creases of the eyelids. This procedure can also be performed simultaneously with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a brow lift. Interested in a personal consultation? Who is a good candidate for Eyelid Lift surgery?
Eyelid surgery is an excellent cosmetic treatment for men and women who have loose, sagging eyelids and/or excess puffiness and skin under the eyes. Although the procedure cannot eliminate crow’s feet and lines around the eyes, it can deliver a more refreshed facial look.
Prospective eyelid surgery patients must be in good general health and have realistic expectations of what the procedure can accomplish. Those who have severe dry eyes or an overactive thyroid gland may not be good candidates for the procedure as this can cause increased swelling around the eyes. After a careful screening process, Dr. Maffi will help determine whether blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) is the best surgical option for you. Call 480.505.6430 to learn more or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Maffi.
What is the recovery time for Eyelid Lift surgery?
After the procedure, the eyes are lubricated and no dressing is required. Most patients experience some numbness and blurry vision immediately after surgery. A 5-7 day recovery at home is necessary, after which patients can return to work and other restricted activities. Private casitas are available at the surgical facility in which patients may choose to recover. Any swelling, bruising and mild discomfort subsides within a few days, and the results become more visible over time, generally within 10-14 days after the procedure. Detailed postoperative instructions along with a complete vitamin and supplement program are provided by Dr. Maffi to ensure eyelid surgery Scottsdale patients recover quickly and comfortably. How is a Brow Lift performed?
Before the procedure, you will meet with one of our licensed medical skin care specialists to prepare the skin for surgery, and will be seen on a regular basis postoperatively to maintain your results. You will also be provided with a full line of medical-grade skin care products and a complimentary camouflage makeup session to help conceal any redness, bruising or scarring from surgery.
To perform brow lift surgery, Dr. Maffi will select an advanced surgical technique based on your unique anatomy, skin irregularities and aesthetic goals. In most cases, brow lift is completed using either the standard surgical method or the more recently developed endoscopic approach. During traditional brow lift surgery, the incisions are created behind the hairline, whereas endoscopic brow lift requires smaller incisions and the use of a surgical viewing instrument. Both procedures typically produce excellent aesthetic results with minimal scarring.
Brow lift surgery is usually performed under light general anesthesia, administered by a board certified anesthesiologist that specializes in plastic surgery procedures. The operation may last anywhere from 1-2 hours. Interested in a consultation with Dr. Maffi to discuss a brow lift? Call Maffi today at 480.505.6430.
Who is a good candidate for a Brow Lift?
Brow lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure that is performed to reduce visible signs of aging, often in patients ages 40 to 60. However, individuals who have naturally low and/or heavy brows or furrow lines can also achieve a more alert, well rested and refreshed appearance with brow lift surgery. Just like with any surgical procedure, in order to receive this treatment, patients must be in good general health and have realistic expectations. Forehead lift surgery can also be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as eyelid surgery or Botox injection treatments. Contact Maffi Surgery Clinic to schedule your personal consultation 480.505.6430.
What’s the recovery time for a Brow or Forehead Lift?
As you wake up from surgery, you will feel mild pain and discomfort. In some cases, Dr. Maffi may place surgical drains at the incision sites to help eliminate excess blood and fluid. In the days following brow lift surgery, your head may feel sore, tight and hot. Any discomfort is alleviated with mild pain medication, and patients are provided with a vitamin and supplement program to help with healing. Some bruising and swelling is normal and will subside gradually. Most patients are able to resume work and other daily activities within seven days or as recommended by Dr. Maffi.
Rather than going home after surgery, you may choose to recover in a private casita available at the surgical facility. Final results are usually achieved within four weeks, during which time you will be carefully monitored by Dr. Maffi and his medical team. In order to prevent any possibility of complications, you will be asked to follow all aftercare instructions diligently. Call 480.505.6430 to learn more or to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Maffi.
