PRP FACIAL

Maffi’s PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Facial is a facial rejuvenation treatment combining Microneedling with a topical application of your own blood platelets. Growth factors found in platelets help repair damaged cells in the body. Combining the benefits of Microneedling with the concentrated growth factors found in platelets speeds up the healing process and cellular rejuvenation in your skin. The result is smooth, firm, radiant skin.

Microneedling uses a small hand-held device with tiny needles that create microchannels or tiny holes in the skin’s surface. These microchannels immediately trigger the healing process, producing collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of the skin. The microchannels also allow for better absorption of topical products. Applying PRP following Microneedling helps in repairing damaged cells at the base of the skin, targeting age related skin damage, enlarged pores, and fine lines and wrinkles. PRP Facial Questions

What is PRP?

PRP, platelet rich plasma, comes from your own blood. It is a concentration of one type of blood cell. Platelets contain growth factors, which help with tissue repair, regeneration of new cells and stimulation of collagen. Applying platelet rich plasma to areas of injury help to reduce inflammation and promote rapid healing.

What are the benefits of PRP Facial?

As a noninvasive skin care treatment, PRP Facial can improve your skin tone and texture, tighten the skin by improving collagen production, soften lines and wrinkles and reduce pore size. As you age, your body produces less collagen. Fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet, creases, and parentheses at the corners of the mouth are a result of the loss of collagen and elastin in the skin. As a powerful anti-aging treatment, combining PRP with Microneedling leads to faster collagen replacement and better results. Because PRP comes from your own blood, there is no risk for an allergic reaction.

What happens in a PRP Facial?

Prior to the treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied to the face. A small amount of blood will be drawn by one of our registered nurses. The sample is spun down in a centrifuge, separating the platelet rich plasma from the blood cells. After cleansing the face, the Microneedling device moves across the skin creating tiny punctures. PRP is applied to your skin and gently massaged in.

Does the treatment hurt?

The treatment is not painful. You may feel a sandpaper-like sensation while the needling device is used. A topical numbing cream applied 15 – 30 minutes prior to the procedure helps to minimize any discomfort.

How long does the treatment take?

Including numbing time, you should plan 60 – 75 minutes for a PRP Facial treatment.

How many treatments do I need?

You will see an improvement in your skin after just one treatment. Because your body continues to make collagen after the initial treatment, you will notice a continued improvement in the tone and texture of your skin. For optimal results, we recommend an initial series of two to four PRP Facial treatments, spaced one month apart. Schedule maintenance treatments every three months.
