PLATELET RICH PLASMA THERAPY

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy or PRP is rapidly becoming the “go to” treatment for facial rejuvenation. Frequently used in soft tissue, joint or bone injuries, the healing properties in platelets are found to be just as effective in aesthetics.

Our blood contains four components: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Platelets contain growth factors which play an important role in the process of tissue repair, regeneration of new cells and stimulation of collagen. Platelet rich plasma heals skin that is continuously damaged by environmental impacts such as sun exposure, weather and pollution. PRP can be applied either topically or injected under the surface of the skin.

For a PRP Injection treatment a small amount of blood will be drawn by one of Maffi’s registered nurses. The blood sample is processed, separating the platelet rich plasma from the blood cells. The plasma is then injected in the areas designated for rejuvenation including under the eyes, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lips, neck and hands. Because PRP is derived from your own blood there is no risk for rejection or allergic reaction.

RESULTS LAST UP TO 2 YEARS

Depending on the area, most patients will require 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Initial results from PRP Injections reveal improvement in the skin’s turgor and elasticity, an overall smoother appearance.

Additional improvement in the area will be noted over the following three months due to the continued stimulation of collagen and elastin along with regeneration of new healthy skin tissue. Overall results can last up to two years. Watch our PRP treatment video.
