Botox is a brand name for a cosmetic injectable neuromodulator. It is a very diluted form of Botulinum Toxin found in the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Other brand names include Dysport or Xenomin. Injecting the diluted product in small amounts will relax your muscles by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscle. Without the nerve signal, the muscle cannot contract or move.
Botox and Dysport treatments are injected with ultra-fine needles making the treatment relatively pain free.
Most people have no downtime following a Botox and Dysport treatment. The treatment takes about 15 minutes. You should be able to resume your normal activities following the treatment.
