Breast augmentation is one of the most popular procedures for women looking to increase the size of their breasts by one or more cup sizes. In addition to increasing volume, the placement of breast implants can correct asymmetry and provide a more aesthetically pleasing and even breast shape. Dr. Maffi is a premier breast augmentation surgeon who understands the impact beautiful breasts have on a woman’s self-esteem and confidence. He has years of experience performing this procedure and has earned a reputation as a skilled breast surgeon.
Most patients undergo breast augmentation for one of the following reasons:
- To increase the size of naturally small breasts
- To enhance body proportion
- To correct reduction in breast volume following pregnancy
- To correct asymmetry (difference in breast size)
- As a reconstructive procedure following mastectomy

Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) raises sagging breasts back to their attractive, youthful position on the chest. Dr. Maffi frequently performs this procedure on women who have breast ptosis or “droopy” breasts due to aging, pregnancy and/or weight loss. If the breasts have also lost volume, which is often the case, breast lift surgery may involve the placement of breast implants, a procedure known as breast augmentation surgery. When performed simultaneously, the two procedures deliver aesthetic results that provide patients with more voluptuous, attractive breasts. Breast reduction alters the size of the breasts for women who have hypertrophy (oversized breasts). Abnormally large breasts are usually hereditary and often cause women to feel self-conscious about their figures. In many cases, enlarged breasts can also lead to physical discomfort including back pain, skin rashes and discomfort when sleeping.
Dr. Maffi’s advanced training and experience have made him very adept at performing this procedure. He strives to deliver the most aesthetically pleasing results while simultaneously alleviating any discomfort. Contact Maffi Surgery Clinic to schedule your personal consultation today 480.505.6430. Breast implant revision surgery is performed on women who are unhappy with their breast implants for one of several reasons. Dr. Maffi, can improve the size and/or shape of the implants through breast implant revision surgery.
Most patients seek this procedure for the following reasons:
- To increase or decrease the size of the implants
- To treat capsular contracture (remove scar tissue that has developed around the implant)
- To correct pronounced asymmetry
Patients may wish to replace their implants to obtain larger or smaller breasts or achieve symmetry. Breast revision is also performed to replace silicone filled implants with saline filled implants or vice versa. In fact, at some point in their lives, most breast augmentation patients will undergo breast implant revision surgery to address issues that have developed with the implant and/or the surrounding breast tissue. Breast implant revision can also be pursued after pregnancy, weight loss or weight gain, all of which can affect the shape and size of breasts that were previously operated on. MAFFI BREAST SURGERY FAQS
Answers to common breast surgery questions
Breast reduction surgery involves the removal of excess breast tissue and skin. In order to accomplish this, Dr. Maffi makes a “lollipop” incision, which starts around the areola and extends vertically down to the fold of the breast. This allows him to trim excess tissue and lift the breasts to a higher position on the chest.
In most cases, the nipples remain attached to the breast, but are moved up. In patients with very large breasts, nipple surgery may be performed in conjunction with breast reduction in order to reduce the size of the areolas. Lastly, the incisions are closed with sutures and surgical garments are placed around the upper chest.
Breast reduction surgery is performed at our fully accredited outpatient surgery center under light general anesthesia, which is administered by board certified anesthesiologists who specialize in plastic surgery. The procedure is typically combined with a breast lift technique. The operation may take several hours.
At Maffi, our patients are treated from head to toe. For this reason, we provide complimentary skin care treatments and a full line of medical-grade skin care products to help your face look its best after surgery. Interested in learning more? Call 480.505.6430 today!
The most appropriate candidates for breast reduction surgery are healthy women who are experiencing physical discomfort and/or emotional distress due to abnormally large breasts.
However, it is important to note that breast reduction surgery candidates should not be extremely overweight because weight gain and loss can affect the size of the breasts. Breast reduction surgery can also be performed on men who suffer from a condition known as gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts). A consultation with Dr. Maffi will help you determine whether you are a good candidate for breast reduction surgery. When you’re ready, give us a call at 480.505.6430. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you.
Of all breast enhancement procedures, breast reduction is among the most complex and requires a longer recovery.
Immediately following surgery, the breasts will be wrapped in bandages and in rare cases, surgical drains may be placed. Mild discomfort will be present, but can easily be treated with pain medication. Patients also receive a complete vitamin and supplement program to encourage healing and optimal results. Swelling, bruising and soreness may last for several weeks. You may also experience sensation changes to the nipples that may last up to 6 months or longer. Patients are generally able to return to work within 2 weeks.
Some patients may choose to recover in one of our private casitas located at the surgical facility. Strenuous physical activity is not recommended for at least 6-8 weeks. Dr. Maffi may also ask you to wear a post-surgical bra for an extended period of time to support the breasts as they heal. Routine follow-up exams and postoperative care are essential to your recovery. Interested in a personalize consultation? Contact Maffi Surgery Clinic today 480.505.6430.
The surgical approach and techniques used during breast revision surgery depend on the nature of the patient’s aesthetic concerns.
When performed for purely cosmetic reasons, breast revision can be a very simple procedure that takes 1-2 hours. However, if treating complications, the surgery may last up to 4 hours. Because there is no one-size-fits-all breast revision surgery, Dr. Maffi drafts a customized treatment plan for each breast revision patient after closely assessing the patient’s concerns, the anatomy of the breasts, tissue availability and the patient’s candidacy for breast revision surgery.
Breast revision surgery is performed at Dr. Maffi’s fully accredited outpatient surgical facility under light general anesthesia, administered by board-certified anesthesiologists who specialize in plastic surgery. To prevent additional scarring, whenever possible, Dr. Maffi will create the surgical incisions at the previous site.
In order to treat our patients to a full range of services, you will also receive a complimentary skin care treatment and a full line of medical-grade skin care products, so you can feel and look great after surgery. If you have additional questions, give us a call at 480.505.6430.
The best candidates for breast revision are patients who are unsatisfied with the look and feel of their breasts for any reason following breast augmentation surgery, and those who are experiencing complications.
Due to many factors involved in breast revision surgery, Dr. Maffi carefully screens each patient to determine whether she qualifies for breast revision. Breast revision patients who are undergoing the procedure for purely cosmetic reasons must be in good general health and have realistic expectations. For those experiencing complications, breast revision is often not a choice, but a necessary procedure. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Maffi, give us a call at 480.505.6430. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you.
For most patients, the recovery process after breast revision is very similar to the original recovery experienced after primary breast augmentation surgery.
In general, just like with previous surgery, patients will experience soreness, swelling and bruising for about a week. Loss of sensitivity is common and subsides over time. Patients are able to return to work and normal activities in 7-10 days and full recovery is achieved in about 4 weeks. Private casitas are available at the surgical facility in which patients may choose to recover. Dr. Maffi is sensitive to the needs of his breast revision patients and will closely monitor their recovery progress to ensure a safe and successful outcome. He also provides each patient with a complete vitamin and supplement program to encourage healing and optimal results. Breast augmentation surgery involves the surgical placement of silicone or saline- filled breast implants via one of several incision types. The incision pattern for placing breast implants can be created in one of three locations:
- under the breast
- around the nipple
- in the underarm
Once the incision is made, Dr. Maffi will create a pocket for the breast implant. Breast implants can be placed in one of three locations:
- on top of the pectoral muscle
- partially underneath the pectoral muscle
- completely underneath the pectoral muscle
Following breast implant placement, the incisions are closed with sutures and the breasts are wrapped with bandages. Breast augmentation surgery is performed at Dr. Maffi’s fully accredited outpatient surgery center under light general anesthesia, administered by a board certified anesthesiologist specializing in plastic surgery. The operation usually lasts about 1-2 hours unless it is being combined with other procedures such as breast lift.
In addition, all surgery patients receive a complimentary skin care treatment and a full line of medical-grade skin care products to help their face look its best as well. If you have additional questions, please give us a call at 480.505.6430.

To restore the youthful, “perky” appearance of the breasts, Dr. Maffi selects from several breast lift types based on the patient’s breast anatomy, tissue availability and aesthetic desires. Once the incisions are created, Dr. Maffi removes the excess breast skin and redundant breast tissue and repositions the nipple and areola to a higher position.
The most common breast lift types include:
- The crescent lift – involves an incision just along the upper part of the areola.
- The donut lift – involves an incision around the areola only.
- The lollipop lift – involves an incision around the areola that extends vertically to the bottom of the breast. This is the most common incision used for breast lift surgery.
- The anchor lift – involves an incision around the nipple, in the crease of the breast fold and one extending vertically that connects the two.
Breast lift surgery is performed under light general anesthesia, administered by a board certified anesthesiologist who specializes in plastic surgery, at Dr. Maffi’s fully accredited outpatient surgery center. The procedure may last anywhere from 1-3 hours, depending on whether breast implants are being placed at the same time.
Dr. Maffi’s surgery patients are also provided with a complimentary skin care treatment and a full line of medical- grade skin care products, so that their face looks luminous as well. At Maffi, we take complete care of our patients. Interested in learning more? Call us at 480.505.6430.
Pregnancy and weight loss contribute to breast ptosis or sagging breast, and patients who are planning on having children or losing a significant amount of weight should consider postponing breast lift surgery until after they have achieved these goals.
In general, the best breast lift candidates are healthy women who want to restore the shape and position of their breasts. It is also important to note that while breasts of any size can be lifted, the results may not last as long in women who have heavy breasts. Call Maffi Surgery Clinic today at 480.505.6430 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Maffi and he will help you form realistic expectations of what surgery can do for you.

Private casitas are available at the surgical facility in which patients may choose to recover.
